The Ford Resident Engineer is responsible for communication of technical and sample information between Johnson Matthey and Ford. This position serves as a key interface between Johnson Matthey and Ford North America. This includes supporting current and future production programs, determining market needs and evaluating competitive threats.
The Resident Engineer shall work in a team environment with commercial, development, manufacturing and quality groups to complete product development and to assist with product commercialization.
Employee will comply with all Johnson Matthey Hazardous Waste procedures and local, state and federal regulatory requirements.
Coordinate technical activities to gain technical approval of Johnson Matthey catalysts.
Support the effective interchange of information between Johnson Matthey and Ford.
Arrange technical meetings, presentations, and visits to / from Ford.
Interact closely with the applications engineers managing the Ford programs at Johnson Matthey to ensure that the very latest information is used in Ford programs.
Help obtain validation for Johnson Matthey technology to support Ford programs.
Provide technical support and applications information to Johnson Matthey Sales, Marketing and Customer Service groups.
Support Ford MCR actions involving Johnson Matthey technology.
Participate in the documentation required for the introduction of new technologies.
Lead post-mortem analysis planning and documentation for catalysts returned from Ford, and support the troubleshooting process at Ford to resolve catalyst related issues.
Interact with Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers to ensure smooth transfer of Johnson Matthey catalyst technology through the catalyst approval process into production.
Help develop and maintain business relationships with Ford and the supply chain partners across their entire organization.
Stay current with developments in catalyst and system technology within Johnson Matthey and Ford.
Requirements:
BS Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials Engineering or Chemistry.
3+ years of experience in exhaust after treatment related field.
Vehicle engineering and / or calibration experience.
Good working knowledge of catalyst design and / or application.
Excellent follow-up, written and oral communication, organization and interpersonal skills.
Skillful in the use of computer packages to analyze data and the preparation of presentation materials for the customer.
Machine shop experience a plus.
